Season of Lent
During Lent we make preparations to climb the Holy Mountain of Easter. Attentive to the Word of God and Prayer, we prepare ourselves by Penance for the renewal of our Baptismal Promises.

1. We are more than half way through Lent. Holy Week is only two weeks away. Now is the time to resolve to make Holy Week special and take part in the Liturgies, especially Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil.
2. The devotion of the Stations of the Cross is especially suited to Lent and you can do them on your own at any time here in the church.
3. Weekday Masses will continue through Lent, 9.30 in the morning, 7.30 in the evening.
4. The new Pastoral Council will be formally introduced to the Parish at 11 Mass this weekend.
5. The Finance Committee will meet on Monday.
6. There will be training for all Altar Servers on Monday at 7 pm in the Parish Church.
7. Children from Brannockstown and Halverstown Schools will make their First Confession in Gormanstown on Tuesday.
8. There will be a meeting for all our Readers on Tuesday at 8 pm in the Parish Church.
9. Our Cluster of Parishes is forming an Executive Committee and it will meet on Tuesday.
10. Wednesday 25 March is the Solemnity of the Annunciation.
11. The new Youth Choir will sing at 7.30 Mass on Saturday next.
12. There will be a preparation Meeting for Baptism on Sunday next at 12 noon.
13. In the Offertory Procession we include with the Bread and Wine this week’s image from the Trocaire Lenten Campaign and we place it in the Lenten Space in front of the Altar.
14. This Sunday is Mothers’ Day. We pray God’s Blessing on all mothers.
15. The Parish Feis takes place this Sunday in the Community Centre.
16. At the end of 11 Mass we turn the page of the Gospels placed in our Lenten Display Area to next Sunday’s Gospel reading, where Jesus will say to us:
‘Unless a wheat grain falls on the ground and dies,
it remains only a single grain;
but if it dies,
it yields a rich harvest.’
